One of the coolest and most original EPs to be released this year comes from Fatima Al Qadiri on her latest effort for UNO Records (who also brought us CFCF and Jacques Greene) titled Genre-Specific Xperience. The entire EP is really transcendental. It’s an experimental sound where Fatima tackles five different genres. On the track we’re showcasing, she’s written an ode to Hip Hop (obviously) that’s way more esoteric and rewarding than your average “beat”. The entire EP is worth owning on 12″ for the cover alone, but the music is so refreshing and yet, despite the oddness, completely playable to crowds.
