The news of DJ Mehdi‘s passing has been circulating all morning, what started as a string of odd and seemingly unbelievable tweets is now being covered by reputable media outlets like FACT Mag, Resident Advisor, XLR8R and even Huff Post. Said coverage states that the 34 year old French producer was dancing with friends on the roof of his home studio in Paris, celebrating the birthday of Carte Blanche co-producer Riton, when the roof collapsed. A number of others were also seriously injured.
Although I didn’t know him personally, Mehdi is widely regarded as one of the happiest and most positive people around. Unrelated, he headlined the first real club gig I played back in 2008 and that will always be special to me.
