I tweeted this new Claude VonStroke mix yesterday, but given that 3 Days Lost in Ibiza has gone from “uncharted” to “my favorite mix of the year” overnight, I’m reposting here. I’ve been pretty keen on Claude’s sound over the past several years, from his affinity to Tech House to his label’s new interest in Booty Tech, I’ve been on the Dirtybird train the whole time. Although he’s gravitated to the aforementioned genres in the past, this new mix of his is nothing like any he’s done before. The closest I can think is his Essential Mix from 2007, but even the vibe in that one strays a bit near the end. Reference his explanation, which is perfect, as this mix literally feels like an audible journey, and stream or download below.

This mix speaks for itself. It is inspired by one of those trips where I found myself lost in the middle of nowhere and ended up staying positive and having a three day (extremely fun) misadventure around the island. This mix is a departure from what I normally do. I purposefully have no giant “bang you over the head tracks,” it is much more of a long, interesting flow. You can hear the ups and downs of a 3 day trip throughout a mysterious island in Spain.
