May 24 First off, I just want to thank Jelly, Diesel and Mad Decent for hooking me up with VIP accommodations, much appreciated.
Aside from the obvious highlight of Kid Sister, the best part of the Mad Decent Block Party: Chicago was Ghetto Division‘s b2b2b2b action. Playing fairly early in the day, Rob Threezy, Charlie Glitch, Rampage and Madd Jazz all put on one hell of a collective set. After their MDBP performance, I’m glad to see these guys recently picked up another night (The Takeover) (RIP Southside Shakedown), as it would be a shame for them not to have their own party. If you missed them at MDBP, I’d highly recommend you get to their next show, ideally if they’re headlining, because although their early set was good, I can guarantee that they’re better with a primed crowd.
Aside from a stellar live experience, the GD crew recently put out a heater of an EP called The Invasion. With three originals and remixes from Dubbel Dutch and Ghetto Division’s own Rampage, this one’s pretty much a must-have for the Summer. Grab remixes by M-DOK and Threezy below, then head over to Beatport to pick up the whole The Invasion EP. Oh, and a quick “spoiler alert”, they got next on our Mini Mix Series.
