It’s always sad to see the end of something, especially when that something has brought so much joy into your life and the lives of others. What am I mourning? It’s the conclusion of the Hollertronix 12″ vinyl series. Hollertronix was a party thrown by Diplo and Low Budget in Philadelphia, it was also used as their DJ duo name. Their party eventually led to the two putting out some very groundbreaking mixtapes that are now classics in the underground/ Indie dance music scene. After the two separated to chase their individual goals, Hollertronix continued as a series of 12″s that sometimes featured the duo, but most often just focused on cutting edge dance tracks representative of their party.
The final chapter in the series of 12″s definitely continues the tradition of “must have” party tracks and comes from a Netherlandish duo called The Partysquad. It’s four tracks of insane party music that is sure to demolish any crowd. It’s a blend of Baile funk, dance hall, Dutch house, and Baltimore club. While too many genres at one time would usually sound like shit, this record simple is the shit. You can get it from Beatport, Turntable Lab, and even on vinyl. And yes, they also have a t-shirt.
