Lionshall

Ever since the Major Lazer record was announced, Dancehall influence has been turning up more and more in tunes these days. From Sharkslayer and their Nassau remixes to Dre Skull’s use of Vybz Kartel and Sizzla. Also, can’t leave out Rico Tubbs and Poirier. Basically, Island music sounds are being used heavily, it could even be the result of the rise of dubstep’s popularity. Whatever it may be, it’s definitely making some interesting music.

Malente & Dex just released a new Bangkok EP on Exploited records that has one of these songs.  The whole EP is actually a really good mix of modern electro house with “world” music influence. However, “Lions” is the definitely the track that exemplifies the Dancehall influence. And Argentina’s Douster pushes the sound even further with his remix.

The EP is available now on Beatport and features 3 original tracks and remixes from Freeform Five, Dop, Round Table Knights, and Idiotproof.
