Used to be if someone called you a “Momma’s Boy” that it was an insult. Since producer Mikix The Cat started a new project called Momma’s Boy, that might have just change things a bit. He just released an EP on one of my personal favorite record labels, Sound Pellegrino. It’s three tracks of genius level house music taking a cue from the current batch of producers who mix elements or world/ethnic styled drums with modern electro house synth tension. This is the type of shit that makes me go mental in my bedroom when I am practicing DJing and the landlord is knocking on the door to tell me to turn it up so everyone in the building can jam out. It’s just a shame I’m missing the Sound Pellegrino thermal team DJs on their visit to Montreal one weak after I move.
