As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Major Lazer, aka Diplo and Switch, are taking the dance scene by storm. Sirhan touched base on the guys’ first release, “Zumbi”, which featured the vocals by… Wait for it… Andy Milonakis. Yep, well, you can find it right here if you missed it. I’ll never understand why Andy Milonakis is famous for anything, let alone “rapping” with a reggae vibe on a dance track, but whatever. Moving on, it’s obvious that Major Lazer is sticking to their reggae influences dance music… Not sure how I feel about it yet, but the “Pon Di Floor” tune in the video up top is straight fire and I’ve personally probably contributed about 100 views on that video.
I’m for sure a fan of Diplo and Switch as individual producers, but I’m really not into the reggae “movement”. I don’t doubt that the quality of their album will be above par as far as engineering goes, it’s just the content that worries me.
